now that you've found me, can you forget me?
Jul 7 2009, 2:30 PM EDT
I tried tracking this story down years ago, but had no luck. I remember finding this wiki then too. Doesn't look like much has changed; hopefully I'm just missing something. My memory is always bad, so the information I know about this might be inaccurate. Hopefully not too much so. I remember reading a story in Omni sometime in the 80s. Probably mid to late 80s, but it could've been earlier than that. I only have impressions of this story, really. The primary thing that has stuck with me is that, in the story, there were these little pieces of paper rolled up and left places. I believe one of them (at least) was left rolled around the wire hanger on the back of a framed picture of some kind. On the pieces of paper were written words to the effect of, "Now that you've found me, can you forget me?" Trouble is of course that quote could be wrong; it was close to that but could've been a variation, like "now you've found me, but will you forget me?" or "now you've found me, can you forget me?" or something. The only other impression I have in my mind from that story is that it might've also involved a large boat of some kind, a cruise ship, maybe. It's funny that this has happened to me. That little meme, of finding something like that on a piece of paper, has always stuck with me; and in the story I guess that was sort of the point, or the idea, that maybe something like that, if read, even if it doesn't really mean anything, could stick with the reader. Anybody remember this or have any idea what story it might've been? Do you find this valuable?
