Can anyone help me? When Omni first started publishing in the late 1970s, I read in its pages a wonderful little poem about Phoebe, the moon that revolves the wrong way around Saturn. I don't know what year or issue it was published, but it was roughly in the 1978-80 timeframe. I would love to get a copy of that poem. Can anyone help me? hugs and thanks, Rita

In the mid 80's there was a short article on an antidepressant which had an unintended side effect. When ever the user of the medication would yawn, they would have an involuntary orgasm. The article stated that it was so bad in some patients that the males had to wear condoms all the time. I don't remember the month or year of the issue however. I'm trying to locate the article (or issue) for a college course I'm completing.

if you were willing...send me one magazine at a time...I'll scan every page and send the magazine back to you. In the same shape you sent it to me. One magazine at a time. Including the pdf's. Interested? It would be of value to the community, you and me. I'm semi retired...nothing but time and curiosity. All 21,600 scans.

I am looking for an article. The thin plotline that I remember is that it involved a graduate student whose thesis is a computer. He called it 'Box' if I'm not mistaken, not sure if that's the name of the article or not.

I would really love to find the name of an artist that did covers for Omni. He was French, he did the cover art for October, probably early 80's. This cover was a swamp scene with a frog-like girl in its midst. Wonderful! I would love to find this again. Thanks for the help in advance.

I bought a collection of 30 sort of random issues from '79-'85, looking for an article I found elsewhere. I hate to just toss these, and will gladly send them to anyone who'll pay the postage + $10. I'll ship cheapest way. Please reply if you're interested.

I recall a short story about a Bureaucracy where the government employees got points for giving people the run around! It was hilarious. I would really like to locate this story - title & author. I often mention it to other people as a good example of Bureaucracy gone mad. Does anybody recall this short story?

I think I screwed up the formatting--I added the pub info for "Forever" by Damon Knight, which was published November 1981...
"Ike at the Mike" by Howard Waldrop was first published June 1982.
If someone else can fix up the formatting and add the info, super.

I remember reading an article on one of the men who had a large part in writing the code, in COBOL I think that was used to send men to the moon. Amazing that that technology, with hundreds of lines of handwritten codes all subject to human error, actually worked. Wish I could read it again now.
Also remember wonderful articles about great mathamaticians. One named Ramenajen, a natural genius from India and sent to Cambridge only to get homesick and die in India surrounded by equations that are still not understood. And another fellow who couldn't produce anything unless he was loaded up on caffeine. The family took him off caffeine for his health and he estimated that he lost 4 years of work. I really miss those stories.

I tried tracking this story down years ago, but had no luck. I remember finding this wiki then too. Doesn't look like much has changed; hopefully I'm just missing something.
My memory is always bad, so the information I know about this might be inaccurate. Hopefully not too much so.
I remember reading a story in Omni sometime in the 80s. Probably mid to late 80s, but it could've been earlier than that. I only have impressions of this story, really. The primary thing that has stuck with me is that, in the story, there were these little pieces of paper rolled up and left places. I believe one of them (at least) was left rolled around the wire hanger on the back of a framed picture of some kind. On the pieces of paper were written words to the effect of, "Now that you've found me, can you forget me?"
Trouble is of course that quote could be wrong; it was close to that but could've been a variation, like "now you've found me, but will you forget me?" or "now you've found me, can you forget me?" or something.
The only other impression I have in my mind from that story is that it might've also involved a large boat of some kind, a cruise ship, maybe.
It's funny that this has happened to me. That little meme, of finding something like that on a piece of paper, has always stuck with me; and in the story I guess that was sort of the point, or the idea, that maybe something like that, if read, even if it doesn't really mean anything, could stick with the reader.
Anybody remember this or have any idea what story it might've been?

My dad got Omni magazine when I was growing up. I discovered the stack of back issues when I was in high school and read every one. Memories of some of the stories and art have lingered with me till this day. Does anyone remember these stories, the titles and authors? I just have fragmentary memories...I'ts so bizarre I remember these specific details after so much time.
1)One was about an alien who gets high from oregano- people in the story have a fashion of wearing "cheek chevrons" title and author??
2)A young boy develops a fascination with tarot cards and early computer technology to tragic results. title and author??
3) An erotic mystery story involving "pedimorphs", bdsm, a catlike alien woman, and a bed made of "wombskin" This story made a particular impression on me- title and author??
any help appreciated. Long live the memories of OMNI!

Can anyone remember the name of a quirky Omni cartoonist. I think it was Atoe. For example, he drew an over-sized man on horizon with line "John was always messing with the laws of perspective". I'm looking for some examples of his work. Big Thanks.

Howdy, I wrote for OMNI from l980 until its last gasp ( the web-only edition where I also hosted a web interview chat with scientists and authors). It was a great magazine and I'm convinced would have been more popular than ever if it hadn' t been closed down after the publisher's death. I know some former OMNI writers are doing some work for Discover now ( moi included). Nice to see this OMNI shrine!

Great website!! Thanks so much for doing this. I miss OMNI. wish we could get access to the actual back issues? I think I bought every one of them but did not keep .
I am trying to track down an article that dealt with invisible glass that this guy down in California made when he was working with a windshield manufacturer and his company said it was no good as it was dangerous (too invisible!) – so he went off on his own. I think he created something called “Merlin’s ball”. There was a picture of the president (first Bush? but not sure so don't use it to date the article) in the oval office with this ball on his desk that you could only see if you looked away from it. I would love to buy one of these, but furthermore have a bet with a friend that does not believe me on this. He thinks I am totally making it up! I also recall the maker was travelling and they rolled out of their bag in the airport and he had to get on his hands and knees to search for them. I am questioning my own reality as I can’t find this on the internet now.
Please help me retain my sanity!!!
Best regards,
